Chelsea talisman Diego Costa has shared his admiration for Paris Saint-Germain superstar Zlatan Ibrahimovic ahead of next week's Champions League showdown between the two, insisting the Swedish forward is one of the best strikers of all time.
Costa and Ibrahimovic will go head-to-head at the Parc des Princes on Tuesday, charged with making the difference in what promises to be an epic rematch of last season's quarter-final that Chelsea managed to edge only by the narrowest of margins.
Ibrahmovic was robbed of the chance to make a difference in that tie through injury, but should be fit this time round to go up against a striker in Costa that's acutely aware of his special talent.
Costa on Zlatan
When asked about his thoughts on Ibrahimovic in a wide-ranging interview with Sport Magazine the Brazilian-born target man waxed lyrical about his latest rival, insisting: “Zlatan is a beast. He is one of those players that I like because of his character and his quality. He is among the best strikers in football history.
"We all know how hard it is going to be playing against PSG. Most of their footballers play at international level… If we want to progress, we must do very well in both legs.”
Who will emerge victorious in two-legged showdown
Costa may be nothing but complimentary in interviews before the match, but you can be sure when he crosses that white line in the French capital he'll be desperate to prove he's Europe's main man this season.
A controversial three-match ban for a stamp on Liverpool defender Emre Can could actually work in his favour purely for the Champions League tie, keeping Chelsea's most influential forward as fresh as a daily ahead of what promises to be a bruising encounter.
The 26-year-old has failed to open his European account for the Blues in five attempts this season, he's surely primed to break his duck over two legs against PSG in a tie that gives Mourinho's side the perfect platform to prove they're serious contenders in the Champions League this time round.
Chelsea fans, are you confident that with Costa back in the side you will be too strong for Paris Saint-Germain, or are the French champions a more serious threat than last season? Have your say in the comment box below
