Never a day goes by without something controversial happening in WWE, and in breaking news today, a WWE doctor is suing former superstar CM Punk for 1 million dollars.
Punk left WWE in acrimonious circumstances last January, before he heavily criticized one particular WWE doctor on Colt Cabana's podcast.
Dr. Christopher Amann has now filed a defamation lawsuit against the former star, after claiming Punk's comments damaged his reputation as a doctor.
"Dr. Christopher Amann filed the lawsuit in Cook County (Ill.) Circuit Court last week. Amann is claiming that the remarks made by both men on Cabana's "Art of Wrestling" podcast in November has caused his reputation as a doctor to suffer. He's seeking that compensatory sum and an undetermined amount of punitive damage," MMA fighting reported.
On Colt Cobana's podcast, Punk (Phil Brooks), accused Dr. Christopher Amann of misdiagnosing a lump on his back, which Punk later found out was a staph infection.
It's clear that these comments are damaging to the reputation of Amann, who has worked with WWE since 2010. But what will have to be decided is whether these comments below by Punk on the podcast are true or not.
"He was like, 'What do you want me to do?'" Punk said on the podcast. "And I just started laughing and I was like, 'Doctor, you are one of the most worthless pieces of sh*t I've ever met.'"
Amann has countered these claims in the lawsuit. "Amann was not requested by Brooks to treat and/or excise a lump, let alone a purple, baseball-sized lump," the suit states.
Elsewhere in the WWE, and last night's SmackDown saw both Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan emerge victorious ahead of their huge match this weekend at the WWE Fastlane pay-per-view.
