Manchester United have made an executive decision not to pursue long-term interest in Juventus star Arturo Vidal this summer.
Vidal has been strongly linked with a move to the Theatre of Dreams for more than 12 months, after emerging as one of Europe's most consistent box-to-box midfielders last season.
The Red Devils are even widely reported to have made a formal £30 million bid for Vidal, but that offer was rejected and talkSPORT believe that's as close as the Chilean hero will ever get to becoming a United player.
Injuries and a dip in form both factored in
Vidal has failed to hit the heights of last season, thanks to a combination of injuries at the start of the season and a 5am altercation outside a Turin nightclub on the eve of the biggest game of the campaign against Roma.
The 27-year-old still has a goal ratio of one in every three games this season, scoring six times in 18 league matches, but its not enough to convince United they made a mistake to signing him when speculation reached a peak after the World Cup finals.

United should break the bank for Pogba instead
Louis van Gaal's side are probably making the right call deciding to pass on Vidal in 2015, because in truth a tremendous player probably reached the very peak of his powers last season and will struggle to recapture that form.
United may have vast resources almost no other club on the planet could match, but that doesn't mean they should splash out £30m+ on a man with a dodgy knee that could struggle to pass a strenuous medical in truth.
That doesn't mean Red Devils scouts shouldn't keep travelling to Madrid though, with Vidal's partner in crime Paul Pogba a player they have to try and sign this summer instead.
Pogba has been absolutely magnificent since turning his back on United in favour of regular first-team chances at Juve, turning into the kind of midfield powerhouse that is capable of dominating any game at the highest level on his best day.
United should swallow their pride when it comes to Pogba and spend big on the French superstar, before Real Madrid or another European giant does instead.
