Manchester City are aiming to beat both Manchester United and Chelsea to the signing of Juventus star Paul Pogba by offering Stevan Jovetic as bait, according to reports.
This morning the Daily Mirror claim that the Montenegrin striker has fallen out with Manuel Pellegrini at the Etihad Stadium after being frozen out of the first-team squad, and as a result his days there are numbered.
With Juventus looking at possible replacements for striker Carlos Tevez, who coincidentally used to ply his trade for City, an ideal scenario could see them snap Jovetic up, whilst also boosting Pellegrini’s chances of landing Pogba.
The France international has plenty of suitors lining up to fight for his signature in the summer, said to be a worth an astounding £75 million, and only yesterday his agent Mino Raiola suggested there was a limited selection of clubs who could actually afford him.
Boasting their billions though City are likely one of those sides, and only Financial Fair Play rules should provide any sort of obstacle. They’re not alone though, with both Chelsea and United able to draw upon lucrative resources if needs be.

As a result a three-way fight could ensue if it’s the Premier League Pogba wants to conquer next, and so City’s plan to offer Jovetic might put them on the front foot. The Manchester giants believe that if they can get Juventus around the negotiation table then they stand a strong chance of getting arguably the most coveted midfielder in Europe, though Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho will have plenty to contest on that matter.
