Arsenal legend Thierry Henry believes Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette is achieving ‘extraordinary’ things in Ligue 1 this season.
The 23-year-old has emerged as one of Europe’s hottest properties after a superb run of goalscoring form - and speculation linking him with a host of top clubs, including the Gunners, has subsequently intensified.
Lacazette has scored 25 goals in 29 appearances for Lyon this season - a tally surpassed not surpassed by any top-flight player in Europe, with the exception of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
Henry: Lacazette is achieving extraordinary things
“For me, right now, what Lacazette is doing is extraordinary. He has became aware of his qualities and he is especially aware that he cannot be average. Congratulations to him, really.”
Do Arsenal need Lacazette?
Lacazette would inevitably command a major transfer fee this summer, and Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger must decide whether or not he really needs the player.
Olivier Giroud continues to improve, while the versatile Danny Welbeck is certainly a decent back-up option for the France international.
But in order to go closer to wining both the Premier League and the Champions League, Lacazette - not a dissimilar player to Henry in his pomp - would be a shrewd purchase if Arsenal can find the funds without neglecting other areas of their squad which require improving.
