It’s safe to say that the NFL Scouting Combine has been a huge success for first round draft prospect Jameis Winston.
The former Florida State star quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner has impressed during this weekend thanks to his play on the field and his IQ off the field.
On the field Winston has been calm and assured, and off it he’s been astute. His interview skills and IQ have been so good that he’s drawn comparisons with five-time NFL MVP Peyton Manning.
But just at the point when we might be thinking of Jameis Winston going number one overall in the NFL Draft to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, one unnamed NFL scout has attempted to undo all of Winston's effort in the past few weeks, months and years.
As NFL.com reported on Sunday, this scout certainly doesn’t like Winston and thinks the talented signal caller will be nothing more than an NFL draft bust.
"Someone will take him in the first round, but how could you even let that guy in the building?" a scout told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "The second law of thermodynamics basically is the more ways something can happen, the more likely it is to happen. That's true of players.
"The more ways they can (expletive) up, the more chances they (expletive) up. This guy's got a lot of stuff that would lean him more likely to be a bust than a good player."
Proving doubters wrong
Winston’s off the field behavior is the biggest concern for NFL teams. He has been embroiled in sexual assault allegations and he knows that he will have to prove a lot of people wrong to get over his negative reputation.
"I know I have to gain a lot of people's trust. But whatever happens, this is just my opportunity and I'm going to take advantage of this opportunity because this is what I dream of," Winston said on Friday. "I dream of being a Hall of Famer one day and I dream of being the face of someone's franchise."
