La Liga expert Guillem Balague has insisted that Spanish giants Real Madrid shouldn't sell Cristiano Ronaldo this summer as he'd still make a difference to any team.
As reported by Sky Sports, Balague referenced English duo Manchester United and Manchester City, claiming that either side could still get a lot out of the Portuguese ace if he was to move back to English soil this summer.
The future of the World Player of the Year has been the subject of much debate in recent time, but Balague doesn't expect Real to lose their star man anytime soon.
“Real Madrid should not sell him this summer as he is still in a condition where he can actually make a difference to the team,” he told Sky Sports' La Liga Weekly podcast.
“If he goes to Manchester United or Manchester City, he will make a difference, he will still be scoring and you could still get a lot out of him. So it would be stupid to get rid of him.
“And while there may also be a football argument to get rid of him, there is certainly no financial argument to do it. For Madrid he is still the key to their business model on and off the pitch, especially off the pitch.”
It remains to be seen as to whether the Bernabeu giants decide to move on the superstar anytime soon, but there will certainly be a great deal of interest in his signature if they put him up for sale.
Ronaldo, of course, has gone from strength-to-strength in Spain's elite division, so would no doubt prove quite the coup for any side in world football. It's unlikely, however, that he would come cheap, so it would no doubt prove a mega deal.
Of course Balague is right
In truth, Balague's comments on Ronaldo's ability to make a difference at the likes of Manchester United and City are pretty obvious. After all, he's currently recognised as the best player on the planet, having already found the net on 29 occasions in La Liga this term.
Fans of Manchester United and Manchester City will no doubt be dreaming of the prospect of Ronaldo joining their clubs, but it's surely unlikely that he will move back to England in the immediate future.
