At WWE Fastlane Bad News Barrett managed to retain his Intercontinental Championship – on paper anyway – as a disqualification loss for Dean Ambrose resulted in The Lunatic Fringe walking out with the championship title.
The theft pretty much set up a WrestleMania rematch between Barrett and Ambrose but there looks to be a bit of a twist involved when the title is up for grabs.
The following night on Raw, Barrett was in one on one action after he was interrupted twice, first by R-Truth who was on commentary and managed to get #GiveTruthAChance trending worldwide on Twitter and was then interrupted by his opponent on the night, Dolph Ziggler.
AMBROSE STILL HAS THE TITLE
Dolph Ziggler hit the Zig-Zag for the victory which angered Barrett more and Ambrose being Ambrose was always going to infuriate the Brit more as he walked down into the ring with the Intercontinental Championship and rubbed it in his face, before shoving past Dolph Ziggler and leaving and as expected, it’s left the fans talking.
This small act pretty much inserts Dolph Ziggler back into the Intercontinental Championship picture and this time the chase for the gold could be a lot more entertaining.

Fans expected Daniel Bryan to be Dolph Ziggler’s opponent at WrestleMania and whilst that still could happen, the WWE haven’t planted any seeds whatsoever for that match to take place in five weeks, not on television anyway and it’s been restricted to social media and Sheamus could well be his opponent.
It was also speculated that Dolph Ziggler could team up with Ryback could team up in a tag team match at WrestleMania but with The Big Guy entering the Andre the Giant memorial battle royal, this frees up Dolph Ziggler to compete in a relevant match.
TRIPLE THREAT OR FATAL 4 WAY?
Although it’s not confirmed yet, the likelihood is that Dolph Ziggler will be thrown into this match and Dean Ambrose will continue to parade around with the championship title and somehow weasel his way back into the championship match whilst Barrett will defend the gold that he doesn’t have in his possession.
The build up to this potential match would be fantastic, we already have a very talented and charismatic champion in Bad News Barrett who continued to entertain every single week as a heel whilst Dean Ambrose remains a popular figure amongst the WWE Universe even though he’s fallen down from the main event picture since his feud with Seth Rollins came to an end.
Dolph Ziggler has been over with the fans for a very long time and the support behind Ziggler will be enough to make this match a must watch at WrestleMania. But the match isn’t really limited to three, we could see three, four or maybe even more superstars included into the mix.
R-Truth was present on Monday Night Raw and actually played a key and entertaining role on commentary after picking up a non-title win over Barrett last week and he might have been included here to make the match a fatal 4 way, being a solid performer he could add a lot to this match.
The WWE Universe should enjoy this match if it comes to fruition, there was always the possibility that the three men would play a small role at WrestleMania but with the fan support this could be a highly anticipated clash and if the WWE want this to be an even bigger match, a standard triple threat or fatal 4 way isn’t the way to go.
If the match goes ahead then some kind of stipulation needs to be added, perhaps an elimination fatal 4 way match would work well and keep the fans entertained whilst the addition of more superstars might not work well especially if they don’t get a good reaction; although the irrelevant superstars will probably be thrown in to the Andre the Giant memorial battle royal based on the WWE booking.
A great way to make this match brilliant would be to make it a ladder match, we haven’t seen one at WrestleMania in a while and we know that Barrett, Ziggler and Ambrose could make it a memorable ladder match considering they bring so much to the table and keep the fans on their feet.
