WWE have dropped a major hint about former World Heavyweight Champion Rey Mysterio's future with the company today, by moving his profile to the alumni section of WWE.com.
This usually happens when a superstar is done with WWE and it comes as no surprise that Mysterio seems to have been released by the company.
The former WWE Champion hasn't wrestled on WWE TV since he fought Bad News Barrett the night after WrestleMania 30, before he suffered another knee injury that has since kept him out of action.
Because of the amount of time missed, WWE was able to extend his contract without his consent last year, and his current one doesn't run out until May this year.
Mysterio himself has been trying to force a release from WWE for months, he stopped cashing his pay cheques and even travelled to Raw to have a face to face meeting with Vince McMahon to discuss his future. None of this worked and he never got to have a chat with Vince.

There was a rumour that Rey had settled with WWE and was set to return at Survivor Series last year to do a final storyline through to Wrestlemania 31, obviously this never happened and the idea was shelved, leaving Rey back in the same predicament he started in.
The rumour mill has been quiet for the past few months regarding the former Cruiserweight as many thought his release may have quietly happened behind closed doors.
Instead WWE have moved his profile to the other side of their website and not even released a statement about a superstar that has been one of the biggest inspirations for children all over the world for over a decade.
Rey Mysterio himself and WWE are yet to release an official statement, but if this is the way WWE say farewell one of their long standing superstars then it has become a much harsher company.
