Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera has hailed Wayne Rooney, insisting that the club's captain is 'one of the biggest players in the world', reports the Telegraph.
Herrera, who moved to Old Trafford from La Liga outfit Athletic Bilbao last summer, has endured an up-and-down start to his United career, however has started to prove his credentials under the Louis van Gaal regime in recent months.
And now the 25-year-old has lavished praise on his skipper, insisting that he is 'unbelievable' and always helping his teammates.
In fact, Herrera pointed to the club's recent FA Cup fixtures, suggesting that the versatile forward always wants to play.
Speaking to the Telegraph, the Spaniard said: “Wayne Rooney is unbelievable. He’s one of the biggest players in the world and always wants to play. Against Cambridge away. Against Yeovil Town away. Even when he had a big problem with his toe, he never missed one training session. He never missed one run. He’s always helping others.

“I knew him from Spain of course. He’s Wayne Rooney. He’s the biggest player in England. When I arrived here, I asked Juan (Mata) and he told me: ‘Wayne always trains, he always works hard, he always fights hard for the team.’ I can learn from him as well as I can learn from Scholes."
There's no doubt about it, Rooney has been a fine player for the Red Devils over a long period. United fans will no doubt be hoping that their skipper - alongside Herrera - can help the club achieve Champions League qualification for next season.
The Red Devils are currently sitting in fourth place in the Premier League table, but will certainly believe that they can secure enough points between now and the end of the season.
Rooney & Herrera must play together
Despite suffering defeat at the hands of Swansea City last week, Rooney and Herrera looked a threat when linking up. And there's no doubt about it, the duo deserve their place in Van Gaal's starting XI, with Rooney playing in attack and Herrera starring in the middle of the park.
With the Red Devils playing host to strugglers Sunderland on home soil, Van Gaal must hand both of them a starting role as between them they can provide the creativity to break the Black Cats down. Herrera will only improve, while Rooney must start up front on a permanent basis.
Van Gaal must play two of his most talented players in their best positions sooner rather than later.
