It was a week to remember for Tyler Blackett as he was rewarded with a lucrative long-term contract at Manchester United and the young defender has now outlined his ambitions for the coming seasons.
Blackett put pen to paper on a new deal on Thursday and, according to the Daily Mail, his wages have skyrocketed from £2000-per-week to £20,000-per-week - an increase of 1000 percent for the 20-year-old.
He was a relative unknown until being thrown into the Manchester United first-team by Louis van Gaal earlier this season and the contractual commitment from the club demonstrates that they envisage a big future for Blackett.
The player himself now hopes to establish himself as a Manchester United great as well as to earn himself international recognition with England - something that may not prove to be too far away for the versatile youngster.
“I want to kick on and to challenge the players in front of me and get a regular place in the first team,” Blackett told the official Manchester United website.

“Hopefully I can get call-ups for England, push on and be more established in this great club.
“I know I’ve got everything [I need to] achieve here at the club. All the coaches are going to help me, so I’m just hoping to achieve great things here.
“I’ve got to keep on improving, concentrating and listening to the coaches and staff. I’ll take on board everything they say.”
Signings still needed
While tying down Blackett shows that Manchester United still value players that come through the youth ranks, it does not disguise the fact that they need to dip into the transfer market once more in the summer.
Central defence is an area that still requires significant reinforcement and it was something of a scandal that the club were unable for recruit a player of repute for this area when Van Gaal first arrived.
The acquisition of attacking talent was inexplicably prioritised and, although Marcos Rojo was signed, it is imperative that at least one more established defender is recruited come the next transfer period.
Who do you think Manchester United should sign to reinforce their defence?
