Chelsea fans subject of new police investigation

Police are investigating new claims that Chelsea fans were making racist chants yesterday evening, reports the Daily Mail.

It has been suggested that a group of Blues supporters were ordered off a train when travelling from Euston to Manchester after watching their side claim Capital One Cup silverware.

In fact, the report has suggested that transport police were called after other passengers complained about the group of fans.

A witness told the Mail: "It was horrendous. They were Chelsea fans and they were being nasty and offensive. One passenger, a black man, moved carriages because he was disgusted with them.

"One girl was crying. The police got on and marched them off the train."

It appears, then, that group of supporters were heading home after the victory, but it remains to be seen as to whether they will be prosecuted for these new allegations.

On last night's allegations, a British Transport Police spokesman said: "Shortly after 10.30pm on Sunday, 1 March, officers were called to meet a Euston-to-Manchester Piccadilly train at Stoke, following reports of racist and abusive behaviour by a number of passengers, said to be football fans.

"Colleagues from Staffordshire Police also attended. Officers asked four men to leave the train at Stoke. We have spoken to two witnesses, and investigations continue.

"Rail passengers and staff have the right to travel and work in peace. Abusive behaviour on trains and at stations is unacceptable, and we will not hesitate to investigate any such incidents."

Another blow

There's no doubt about it, this latest incident involving Chelsea fans will only come as another huge blow for the club as a whole.

The Blues have been well and truly in the spotlight of late after a clip emerged of the club's fans making racist chants on the Paris Metro after watching their side in action against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League. As it stands, Chelsea have banned as many as five fans, with the investigation still ongoing.

Must be banned

Let's hope Chelsea football club, along with the FIFA and Co., continue to take a strong stance on racism as it's something that has to be kicked out of the game for good.

Without a doubt, these so called fans are not true football supporters of the game and don't deserve a seat in any stadium in the world. They should be banned for life, as the governing bodies look to eradicate the problem.
