A survey of Serie A fans, conducted by La Gazetta, to find out who they believe has been the best signing of the January transfer window has resulted in differing fortunes for two on loan Premier League players.
Chelsea’s Mohamed Salah was voted the biggest coup of the window after moving on loan to fifth placed Fiorentina. While Lukas Podolski’s move to Inter hasn’t proved quite so fruitful, leaving the German as the second worst signing of the window.
Salah has been on fire since his move to Italy, scoring four goals and assisting one in his six appearances so far for his new club; only two less than Juan Cuadrado, the man who moved in the opposite direction, had managed in the first half of the season.

Best to worst
Podolski, though, has been nowhere near as successful as Salah during his stint in Italy so far.
After three seasons and 31 goals for Arsenal, Podolski was sent to Inter Milan and has yet to muster a goal in his eight appearances for the club.
Due to this poor form, 36 percent of fans polled believed the Germany international has been the worst January arrival in Serie A. Only AC Milan flop Alessio Cerci (46 percent) took more of the vote.
Inter manager Roberto Mancini didn’t hold back when talking about his new signing: "Podolski? Obviously he is someone who must give more, and we are sure that he can give us more, because at the moment, it's not enough."
The World Cup winning German has been left out of Inter’s Europa League knockout round squad to face Wolfsburg, as Mancini prefers fellow January signing Xherdan Shaqiri.
Arsenal will have some decisions to make if Inter decide against making the transfer permanent, which at the moment looks unlikely. Podolski’s contract with the Gunners expires in 2016 although Arsene Wenger has always expressed a desire to keep him.
What do you think - should Salah come back to Chelsea? And does Podolski have a future with Arsenal?
