Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has hinted that youngster Kurt Zouma has the potential to replace captain John Terry at the club.
As reported by the Express, the Portuguese tactician has suggested that the youngster's leadership skills could ultimately see him replace the club's captain.
In fact, the Blues boss has admitted that the Frenchman has played more frequently than expected this term, which will only benefit him in the long run.
He told reporters: "Zouma is now 20 years old and one day he will be 23, 24 and a player with great maturity, probably even with leadership to replace John.
"This season he is playing more than I expected, more than he expected and more than everyone expected so he is getting experience levels which are very important."
There's no doubt about it, Zouma looks set for stardom at Stamford Bridge, so perhaps one day he will follow in the footsteps of Terry and even captain the club. He certainly has a long way to go, but he will be determined to continue his progression over the coming months and years under the guidance of Mourinho.
For now, though, Terry looks set to stay at the club for a little while yet after Mourinho revealed that the club will offer him a new deal.
The 34-year-old's current contract is set to expire at end of the campaign, but Mourinho has insisted that the skipper will ply his trade for the club in 2015/16.
As reported by BBC Sport, the Chelsea chief told said: "I can guarantee he will be a Chelsea player next season. No doubts he's going to get his contract."
It's certainly not surprising that Terry is set to remain a Chelsea player for next season as he's been in tremendous form throughout the course of the campaign.
