The NFL off-season is in full flow and we are just days away from the start of free agency and the annual mad dash for the biggest available names on the market.

The main stories in the off-season to this point have centered around players like DeMarco Murray, Peyton Manning and Ndamukong Suh.

With new contracts and possible new teams being the focal point in the off-season, the players not set for either tend to take a back seat.

The Houston Texans had remained largely silent in this year's off-season until Monday when wide receiver Andre Johnson claimed his departure was imminent.

Now a second Texans star is in the headlines, but it is for the wrong reasons and arguably the most bizarre headline ever.

Texans safety D.J. Swearinger has been accused of stealing a car that actually belonged to himself - this is no joke.

Swearinger booked his own truck in for a few customised updates with Espi motors in Houston including new speakers, a batman logo and some new wheels.

All in all, the upgrades to his Ford 2013 F250 truck cost around about $20 million, which may have come as a bit of a shock to the Texans star.

It appears to have come as a shock due to the fact that Swearinger drove his truck away from the garage without paying his bill.

After trying to contact Swearinger, Espi motors filed a report with the police who are investigating the issue.

Swearinger's agent has since spoken out on the issue and claimed it all to be one big mistake.

"This incident was an unfortunate misunderstanding, and we are working on resolving the issue." - Swearinger's agent's response to claims he stole his own vehicle

Perhaps one of the most bizarre stories to come out of the off-season so far, Swearinger will surely be hoping for a quick resolution in order to continue his off-season preparations.

Texans strange preparations?

Swearinger isn't the only Texans defender to have made a headline in the off-season due to a bizarre incident.

MVP candidate and Texans defensive end J.J. Watt has received some media attention due to his purchase of a cabin in the woods.

Watt has claimed to be imitating Rocky from the famous franchise and has retreated to his secluded cabin in order to train even harder for the 2015 season.
