Paris Saint-Germain defender David Luiz has hit out at his former manager at Chelsea, Jose Mourinho, claiming the Portuguese coach is not special.
The Brazil international, who was sold by Mourinho last summer, was asked by respected French publication L’Equipe - according to AFP journalist Tom Williams - what makes Mourinho so special.
But Luiz’s answer may surprise a few Chelsea fans, who will always remember the South American fondly for his loveable character - perhaps more so than his unconvincing defensive performances.
Luiz: Mourinho is NOT special!
Luiz hit out at his former boss by saying: “But he's special for you, not for me!"
Just last month Luiz was forced to deny claims that he left Chelsea due to a poor relationship with Mourinho, who somehow managed to receive a £50 million fee from PSG for the versatile Brazilian.
“I decided to leave after the end of the season,” he revealed in an interview with The Sun. “Chelsea offered me a new contract and I said to them ‘I’m not feeling the same thing like I was feeling years ago.’
“I had an amazing connection with the fans, my team-mates, everyone at the club, but I decided my cycle was finished and I wanted to live a different moment now in my life.”
Chelsea were right to sell Luiz
Luiz will come face-to-face with Mourinho when PSG travel to Chelsea for their Champions League last-16 second leg clash against the Blues on Wednesday night.
The two sides drew 1-1 during last month’s first leg - and Chelsea are favourites to qualify for the quarter-finals with home advantage and that precious away goal.
It's clear that Chelsea made the right decision regarding Luiz, who was a liability at times for the Blues.
PSG's massive £50 million offer was simply too good to turn down.
