Manchester United midfielder Angel di Maria has put his house up for sale, one month after intruders attempted to break into the £4.1 million mansion in Prestbury.
This is according to the Manchester Evening News, who understand Di Maria and his family have no intention of returning to the property following the ‘terrifying raid’ which took place in the days prior to United’s 3-0 home win over Cambridge United in the FA Cup fourth round last month.
Di Maria, who is currently residing in a Manchester-based hotel with his wife and young child, has struggled for form over the winter months - leading to speculation that he could leave Old Trafford as early as this summer. And this latest development promises to add yet more fuel to the fire.
PSG keen to sign Di Maria
French champions Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly keen to sign Di Maria this summer, a year after failing to bring him to the Parc des Princes, while United are reportedly considering using the money generated from the Argentina international’s sale in order to launch a bid for Real Madrid star Gareth Bale.
Di Maria insists he is happy at Old Trafford, but the effect of such an ordeal on him and his family cannot be understated, as Gary Neville recently explained in his latest Telegraph column.
United fans could not blame Di Maria for leaving
The 27-year-old former Real Madrid star, who was named Man of the Match in last season’s Champions League final, has the class to excel in the Premier League with Manchester United, whose supporters will be desperate for the South American to stay put despite his recent poor form.
But United fans couldn’t blame him if he decided to leave English football for good this summer.
