Supermodel and former partner of Cristiano Ronaldo has launched an attack with the thinnest of veils, claiming the Real Madrid star made her feel "ugly" and "insecure".

The Russian model split with Ronaldo at the very start of 2015 with rumours starting to circulate that they had gone their separate ways when she failed to attend the Ballon d'Or ceremony with Ronaldo.

The Portuguese superstar took home the Golden Ball, much to the envy of Leo Messi, but walked out alone. How sad.

Thinly-veiled swipe

Alleged infidelities are believed to have come between Ronaldo and Shayk and latter has taken a swipe at her former partner for how he made her feel.

“I thought I had once found the ideal man but it didn’t turn out that way"

She told Spanish society magazine Hola in an interview: “My ideal man is faithful, honest and a gentleman who knows how to treat women.

“I don’t believe in men who make us feel unhappy, because they’re boys not men.

“I thought I had once found the ideal man but it didn’t turn out that way.

“I think a woman feels ugly when she’s got the wrong man at her side. I’ve felt ugly and insecure.”

Asked what she wanted in a man, she said: “I love honest men and a I love a man who is loyal to women.”

Then his form drops off

Ronaldo's season started off with a bang. He scored in 12 consecutive La Liga games, including three hat-tricks but has scored just four goals in his last eight appearances. That would be a decent return for most strikers, but not a man like Ronaldo.

Now over 30 per cent of Real Madrid fans want to see Ronaldo dropped by Carlo Ancelotti, capping a spectacular downfall from his form towards the end of 2014. It's conceivable his messy split from Shayk has contributed to this.

Time for a break?

Ronaldo could use a break from Real Madrid duties and could benefit from some time on the bench. Many would argue that he is simply too important for Los Blancos, but the team certainly have enough firepower to cope without him for a month. He could recharge his batteries, sort his life out and maybe even find a new model girlfriend.
