Liverpool are seriously considering a summer move for Newcastle United defender Daryl Janmaat, a man who has impressed in his first season as a Premier League player and would bring quality to a problem position for the Reds.
That is according to the Newcastle Evening Chronicle, who believe Liverpool have already watched Janmaat on a number of occasions this season as the search continues to find Glen Johnson's long-term replacement at right-back.
Johnson is out of contract at the end of the season and looks ready to move on after six series at Anfield. Javier Manquillo has failed to impress as cover and is only with Liverpool on loan, which means Janmaat is definitely a viable transfer target for Reds boss Brendan Rodgers.

Newcastle at risk of summer exodus
Newcastle are facing a fierce fight to retain any of their best players when the current campaign concludes, with uncertainty looming large throughout the club.
Caretaker manager John Carver is still hoping to take on the post full-time, but if he does it could well be a rebuilding job above all else. Janmaat and Moussa Sissoko are two players being courted by top Premier League clubs, with Liverpool in particular serious about bidding for a Dutch international they feel is potentially capable of suiting their style perfectly.

Liverpool should definitely make move
Janmaat has certainly proved this season that he's easily the equal of most Premier League full-backs, possessing an all-important ability to bomb forward and effect play in the final third alongside strong defensive qualities.
Rodgers could even use one of Louis van Gaal's former trusted Dutch starters to play as a wing-back to suit a shift in system, an idea he's showcased extensively this year using the likes of Emre Can and Lazar Markovic.
The 25-year-old could also play in a back three, exactly the kind of versatile option Liverpool should be looking for long-term with a particular nod to meeting the demands of European football and three matches a week.
Newcastle won't let a player they signed only last summer go cheaply, but when you consider that Albert Moreno cost £12m a similar sum for Janmaat would represent a very sound investment on the opposite flank.
Liverpool fans, do you think Janmaat would be a good signing? How much do you think the Dutch full-back is worth? Let us know by having your say in the comment box below!
