Chicago Bears fans finally have a reason to thank much-maligned quarterback Jay Cutler.
Love is in the air
Gratitude could be heading his way after news that a key signing is set to arrive at Soldier Fields largely because of his "love" of Cutler.
According to Dianna Marie Russini of NBC4 in Washington D.C, the chance to play with the Chicago quarterback is one of the main factors behind former San Diego Chargers wide receiver Eddie Royal leaning toward signing with the Bears in the near future.
After Jay Cutler's recent struggles - he threw for 18 interceptions in 2014 and was blamed for failing to utilise a myriad of offensive weapons - it may be surprising to discover a wide receiver is attracted by the prospect of being on the receiving end of his passes, but Royal has history with Cutler.
The two played together for the Denver Broncos for one season - Royal's rookie year in 2008 - and it was actually the former Charger WR's most productive in terms of total yards (980) and receptions (91).

Moreover, with news this week that new head coach John Fox is to keep Jay Cutler as the Chicago Bears' starting quarterback for next season, those players who do eventually make up the franchise's 2015 offense will certainly have to get on board with Cutler sooner rather than later.
And, after Brandon Marshall was rumored to be unhappy with the QB's 2014 performances, Cutler himself may be happy to have swapped the perennial Pro Bowler (Marshall was traded to the Jets this week) for Royal - a man who is so keen to play alongside him once again.
With Eddie Royal expected to sign with the Chicago Bears in the near future there is a distinct feel of the Denver Broncos at Soldier Field.
Royal would be joining Cutler (Broncos 2006 - 2008), John Fox (Broncos 2011-2014) and Adam Gase (Broncos 2009-2014) as Bears employees with a resume that includes spells with Denver.
Indeed, should Eddie Royal sign on the dotted line with Chicago, fans will be hoping that the ex-Charger can rekindle his working relationship with all names above to help the Bears improve their distinctly underwhelming offensive output during the last campaign.
Some though will continue to question Royal's apparent affection for Cutler...
