Manchester United have been linked with plenty of reputable names since the appointment of Louis van Gaal, and most of the gossip from today’s papers if focused around transfers that might well happen in the summer.
We’ve gathered stories from outside of England as well as within Britain’s borders, and all of the gossip is fairly juicy. If you’re a United fan then prepare to have your sports news coffers significantly bolstered, if you’re just a supporter of football in general then we’re sure there will be things that will interest you.
First off we head to the shores of Spain, where El Confidencial have some very positive news if you’re a fan of the Red Devils. It’s claimed in their sports section that Atletico Madrid star Miranda has his heart set on leaving the Vicente Calderon this summer, having been left gutted by a failure for a move to either United or Barcelona to materialise last summer.
The Brazilian was a key component in Diego Simeone’s La Liga-winning side of last season but has found game time significantly harder to come by this year. As a result he’s said to be disappointed that he wasn’t able to leave the club when his reputation was at its highest, with both United and Barca rumoured to be interested in taking him on back in 2014.
Meanwhile United stopper Ben Amos has confirmed that he will need to leave the club in order to get regular first-team opportunities, with Victor Valdes’ arrival having all but rendered his services at Old Trafford redundant. The 24-year-old has been with the Red Devils since 2008 but his time has been spliced with a hearty smattering of loan spells elsewhere, and it would appear he’s no longer happy to sit on the bench.
Amos even suggested that the only reason he’s been at United for so long is because he’s a fan of the club. Talk about loyalty interfering with a player’s best interests.
Falcao to Chelsea?
Sticking with transfer news there’s a relative bombshell of a rumour doing the rounds this morning, with it being said that Chelsea are interested in perhaps taking on Radamel Falcao. The Colombia international has flattered to deceive this year at United, but Jose Mourinho might take a punt on him in the summer. We know right, go figure.
