Franz Beckenabeuer has warned the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal about the possibility of signing Sami Khedira, insisting that the German international isn't fit enough.
The Real Madrid ace is out of contract in the summer and can walk away from the Bernabeu for nothing as things stand.
There's been a host of clubs linked with a move for the 27-year-old in recent months including Chelsea, but Beckenbauer has launched a scathing attack against his countryman over his fitness. Khedira has started just three games in La Liga for Real Madrid having suffered multiple thigh injuries this season.
He told Sky: "In his current physical shape Khedira would not help any team forward. He is missing something in each aspect of the game at the moment.
"His ability to keep on running in midfield was key to his game. He does not add much without that..."
Costa keen on Chelsea move
Shakhtar ace Douglas Costa has revealed that he wants to join Chelsea this summer, insisting that he can fulfil his ambitions at the club, reports the Mirror.
The Brazilian winger, who was linked with a move to Stamford Bridge in January before the Blues secured the services of Juan Cuadrado from Fiorentina, seems determined to leave Ukraine behind sooner rather than later.
The 24-year-old said: “I’m tired of playing in the same league. It’s time to change something. I want to try myself in a strong team that plays in a strong championship.
“I want to play for Chelsea not just because my friend Willian plays there, but also because it’s the team coached by a great coach like Mourinho.
Luis could complete Atletico Madrid return
Chelsea defender Filipe Luis could make a surprise early return to former club Atletico Madrid this summer, just 12 months after swapping the Spanish capital for Stamford Bridge in a deal worth £16 million.
Luis arrived with a reputation as one of the most consistent attacking full-backs in European football, but has struggled to earn a regular place in Jose Mourinho's side in his first season with Chelsea.
