Teddy Sheringham believes Louis van Gaal has made a big mistake by choosing Robin van Persie and Radamel Falcao over James Wilson this season.
Van Gaal made headlines last month after criticising his strikers. The Dutchman said their inability to score 20 goals a season has kept Manchester United from challenging for the Premier League title.
He said in February: “Robin van Persie cannot deny it, Falcao cannot deny it and Rooney is not playing there much any more. We cannot deny that, at this moment, we don’t have a striker who scores 20 goals in the season."

Ready for his chance
But Sheringham believes Wilson, 19, is already has the capable of scoring 20 goals in a single campaign if given the chance. The treble-winning legend thinks it's time for Wilson to be elevated above Van Persie and Falcao.
"I really like James Wilson," he declared to Manchester United's official website. "It’s a shame for him that Radamel Falcao and Robin van Persie are in front of him.

Van Gaal is wrong
"Louis van Gaal said recently that he doesn’t have a striker who can score 20 goals a season, but I think if you put Wilson up there with Wayne Rooney then you’d have two players who can reach those figures for you.
"He’s very direct, scores goals, has good pace and that added bonus of being a left-footer – they always tend to catch defenders off guard and it always looks more special when the left-footed strike goes in. I like his attitude, he looks a good player, a good prospect and one that everyone needs to keep an eye on."
Is he right?
It is far too premature to suggest Wilson is ready to be Manchester United's first-choice striker, but it is also easy to see where Sheringham's optimism comes from. Wilson has pace in abundance while Van Persie and Falcao do not. The England youth international has also proven to be clinical in front of goal, although mainly at under-21 level.
Van Gaal obviously rates him. He sold Danny Welbeck to elevate Wilson to the first-team squad at the beginning of the campaign, but many expected him to feature much more than he has.
Out of sorts
Van Persie, who earns £250,000-a-week at Manchester United, has been completely out of form and short of fitness all season. Falcao is a dead man walking as far as many are concerned so, surely, Wilson's chance is coming.
Unfortunately, Wilson suffered a hamstring injury in an Under-21 match on Monday night and is a major doubt for the game against Liverpool. Having scored in the game, it would be easy to have seen him start against a slow and sluggish Liverpool defence on Sunday.
Is James Wilson ready to be selected ahead of Robin van Persie and Radamel Falcao or has he still got a long way to go? We want Manchester United fans to give us their views in the comment box below!
