Wellington Silva has confirmed he will join up with the Arsenal squad in pre-season once his current loan spell with Almeria comes to an end.
The Brazilian originally signed for Arsenal in 2011 but has been unable to make his debut due to his inability to obtain a work permit. It was confirmed earlier this season that he had finally been granted the necessary permission before attention turned to his future.
While he has become a La Liga regular with Almeria, there is some doubt as to whether Arsene Wenger can find a place for him in his Arsenal squad. Joel Campbell and Lukas Podolski, who play in similar positions to Wellington, were both loaned out for that very reason.

Set to return
But the Brazilian youth international has confirmed that Wenger wants him back at Arsenal for pre-season and that his agent is currently discussing a contract extension with the Gunners.
"They want me there for pre-season and I am very happy with that news"
My agent told me recently that we are dealing with my contract renewal," Wellington told Spanish paper Marca.

"I only have one year left with Arsenal. They want me there for pre-season and I am very happy with that news.
"But at the moment I am at Almeria and my thoughts are here. We have to achieve our objective of staying up."
Wellington has certainly had a turbulent time as an Arsenal player. He was heavily criticised during a disastrous loan spell with Levante. Then-manager Luis Garcia criticised Wellington's poor attitude and his diet in a scathing attack in 2011.
He has also found himself embroiled in a big match-fixing scandal and could have faced a lengthy ban for his alleged involvement.
Talent or no talent?
Arsenal paid a reported £3.5m to bring Wellington Silva to the club from Fluminense. They had anticipated him to obtain a special-talent work permit similar to that given to Ryo Miyaichi and Gabriel, but it did not turn out that way.
Now Wenger will be hoping to claw back the money he invested in the player as it does not look like he has what it takes to make it at the top level. He has failed to score a single goal for Almeria in 21 La Liga appearances and places are at a premium in the Gunners squad.
