There is little denying that WWE are desperate to hold onto their current World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar given the number of controversial incidents regarding WWE superstars which have happened over the past year.
The position Lesnar is currently in however, has never been made fully clear. Though we are aware a return to UFC is highly likely for The Beast, when exactly this will be has not yet been finalised.
At present, Lesnar is scheduled to face Roman Reigns for the World Heavyweight Championship Title on The Grandest Stage of Them All in just 12 days time.
Reigns earned the opportunity by overcoming the WWE Universe's favourite 'Yes!' man, Daniel Bryan, but as Reigns has not exactly been the most popular WWE wrestler of late, questions surrounding his chances of becoming champ have been asked.
These questions were supported by the thoughts of Lesnar himself, which he expressed on Monday Night Raw, stating: "Here's my take on my contract with WWE...if I stay, I'll be WWE Champion, if I go, I will be WWE Champion, Roman Reigns is not going to stand in the way of that."
As the most recent reports regarding Lesnar's position within the company have suggested that he will only remain part of WWE if he receives a pay rise and is able to be part of the UFC at the same time, it could well be the case that he will remain at WWE longer than many had thought.
One person who is hoping Lesnar makes his UFC return as soon as possible however, is former WWE big name CM Punk.
During a chat with Fox Sports, Punk gave the following view on a return for Lesnar to UFC: "I'd love to see Brock back. I think it would be good for Brock, and it would just be fun to have him around."
While this comment may just be a dig at WWE, Punk did go on to confirm that he had been regularly in contact with Lesnar recently, with the WWE Champion giving him advice on his transition to MMA.
Continuing the trend of putting WWE down, Punk gave the following answer when asked if he ever watched WWE television shows: "Nope. She'll [AJ Lee] tell me when I should watch something, like something she's excited about, but she never does."
Whichever direction WWE and Lesnar choose to go in with regard to his contract, both parties will hope that it does not result in the 37-year-old having the same viewpoint of the company as CM Punk and now seemingly, AJ Lee.
One thing though, is for certain, as Lesnar stated he was 'put on this earth to seek and destroy and to hurt people'.
Roman Reigns should certainly be concerned going into their match at WrestleMania XXXI in just under two weeks' time.
