As if Harry Kane didn't already feel enough weight on his shoulders.
Expectations are only growing higher as his goals continue to keep Spurs within reasonable distance of a top four finish and his team-mates have done little to ease the pressure.
Emmanuel Adebayor has claimed that the Englishman is the only one that can save their season from further disappointment and even suggested he could emulate the achievements of Gareth Bale.
“He is a young lad and at the moment I think he is the only one that can save our season"
The out-of-form Togo striker claims that in the same way Bale managed to more-or-less rescue Spurs two seasons ago, Kane has the potential and talent to replicate that exploit this season.
He told the Evening Standard: “He is a young lad and at the moment I think he is the only one that can save our season.
The new Bale
“Gareth Bale did it two seasons ago and I scored [14 goals in 24 games] in the second half of last season.
“Harry is learning through his difficult moments as well as his positive ones but he is fantastic player. Hopefully, he will drag us out of the top seven and put us in the top four. If he can keep scoring as he has recently, of course he can do it.
“But don’t get me wrong, now people are starting to get to know him and what he can do and what he cannot do, his positives and negatives on the pitch. But he is an intelligent lad and he just has to find his way.”
Losing his way
His formidable goal-scoring run sees him within a good chance of winning the golden boot. He's currently third in the top scorers list behind Chelsea's Diego Costa and Manchester City's Sergio Aguero.
After an unusually anonymous performance against Manchester United on Sunday, Mauricio Pochettino will be hoping that his star striker and golden boy finds his shooting boots firmly laced up for the remainder of the season.
Spurs will need him to show the same ruthlessness in front of goal if they are to keep up with top four rivals Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal.
