Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal is set to tell the club's executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward that Colombian striker Radamel Falcao doesn't have a future at the club, according to the Manchester Evening News.
The report has suggested that Van Gaal, who brought Falcao to the club on a season-long loan deal from French outfit Monaco on transfer deadline day last summer, doesn't want to secure the player's services on a permanent deal.
Falcao has endured a torrid time on English soil, having only found the back of the net on four occasions this term, and it now appears that he will have to move on once again as he looks to get his career back on track.
In recent weeks, despite Dutch forward Robin van Persie being out on the sidelines with an injury, Falcao has failed to hold down a place in the first team, with club captain Wayne Rooney taking his place in the starting XI.
And now it appears that he will leave the club sooner rather than later, with the Red Devils set to snub the opportunity to sign him for a massive £43 million.
It appears, then, with the same report suggesting that Manchester United have as much as £150 million available to spend on new players this summer, that the club will look elsewhere as they go in search of success under the Dutch regime.
It remains to be seen as to which players the Old Trafford outfit target in the next window, but it certainly appears that they're ready to do anything to get back to the top of England's elite division.
For now, though, they will just be determined to secure their place in next year's Champions League, with a huge clash with top four rivals Liverpool on the horizon.
It just hasn't worked
It's certainly not surprising that Van Gaal doesn't want to keep Falcao at the club. At the end of the day, despite his injury problems, he just hasn't delivered the goods for the club.
United certainly don't have the time to wait for Falcao to get back to his best, so they must replace him with a world-class striker.
With Wayne Rooney, Robin van Persie and Co. already at the Theatre of Dreams, one more top forward would no doubt make the club a force to be reckoned with next season. Unfortunately for Falcao, that player just isn't him.
