Daniel Bryan is arguably the most popular wrestler in the WWE. But despite this support from the WWE Universe, the wrestling company has chosen to not offer him the chance to main event WrestleMania 31 later this month.
Brock Lesnar will face Roman Reigns at Mania for the WWE Heavyweight Championship on March 29, while Daniel Bryan goes head to head with six other superstar wrestlers for the Intercontinental Championship.
The majority of Daniel Bryan's fans think that his demotion of sorts to the Intercontinental battle is a travesty, but that is not the way that Daniel Bryan himself sees his opportunity to win the Intercontinental belt. In fact, Bryan believes that his match can steal the show at WrestleMania 31.
“For a year, I had this vision of me wrestling (former UFC champion) Brock Lesnar in the main event for the WWE Championship," Daniel Bryan explained, according to NoDQ wrestling.
"But sometimes, when you don’t get what you want, you end up getting something better — like this ladder match. I think with the guys we have in that match and the excitement we can generate, we have a real chance of stealing the show.”
Furthermore, Daniel Bryan thinks WWE SmackDown has lost its lustre in recent years, but he says he is hell bent on changing that perception.
"It’s well known that the people who are perceived to be ‘the bigger Superstars’ don’t show up often on SmackDown, they mostly feature on (the main show), Monday Night Raw. One of the things I’d like to do, as a kind of near-main event guy, is to do things that provide opportunities for guys to really stand out.”
