Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola decided to take a trip back to the Nou Camp for tonight's Champions League showdown between Barcelona and Manchester City, where he was treated to nothing short of a masterclass from his former protege Lionel Messi.
Guardiola was clearly in his element watching Messi run the show throughout the first of Barca' serene procession into the quarter-finals, which was evident during one particularly ruthless passage of play.
Messi humiliated poor James Milner with a cheeky sidestep nutmeg on the touchline, but to be honest Guardiola's superb reaction to that piece of skill might be better than the Argentine's moment of on-field magic.
How could you not love Guardiola?
You can see the warmth in Guardiola's expression watching Messi perform at the peak of his powers, which perhaps explains why the Bayern boss used some precious spare time to visit the club where he won 30 trophies as a player and manager combined.
Guardiola took his seat for the second-leg showdown late, perhaps on purpose, but was in place by the time Messi got going and was so exasperated by the way he brushed aside Milner the hugely experienced coach had his head in his hands.
Messi back to his incredible best
While Messi was strutting his stuff Guardiola was doing a truly terrible job of hiding just how much he still loves Barca, but must surely be preparing to face them in the latter stages of the Champions League.
With Real Madrid just struggling a touch of late Barca and Bayern look head and shoulders above the rest competing for European football's club prize, which is exactly why you should treasure Guardiola's superb, unfiltered reaction to watching Messi live in the video below!
