Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal wants to sign as many as three British players this summer - with Gareth Bale, Danny Ings and Nathaniel Clyne his main targets.
As reported by the Manchester Evening News, van Gaal has dispatched United scouts to watch Ings during the Premier League run-in, as the Englishman bids to keep Burnley in the top flight.
Ings would be available on the cheap as the Burnley man is out of contract at Turf Moor at the end of the season.

But that means the goalscorer is attracting plenty of interest from Premier League clubs, with Tottenham, Manchester City and Liverpool all keeping tabs too.
It's been reported that van Gaal will spend in excess of £150m this summer, just like last year, as he looks to completely overhaul the United squad.

With Ings available for just a compensation payment (as he's under 24), believed to be in the region of £3m, that would free up space for van Gaal to bid big on a superstar like Gareth Bale.
The Real Madrid forward has endured a difficult spell at the Bernabeu this season, after a magnificent debut campaign. And despite a recent upturn in form, he is still linked with a return to England with United informed of his possible availability last November.
The final British target is Southampton's Nathaniel Clyne, who has been offered a contract extension by the Saints but has so far put off signing it.
He will be available for nothing at the end of next season, which means Southampton would have to sell this summer if they wanted to recoup a significant fee for him before his deal runs down.
The report claims it's not coincidental that van Gaal is looking for English players, as he's had great success by investing in local stars wherever he's been a manager.
At Bayern Munich it was the likes of Thomas Muller and Bastian Schweinsteiger while at Barcelona he oversaw the development of Andres Iniesta and Xavi. His famous Ajax squad was built on a nucleus of Dutch talent.
That doesn't mean that United will not spend big on foreign stars too though, with the United boss expected to splash out for a new central defender (Mats Hummels remains the priority) and a new central midfielder (possibly Kevin Strootman).
What do you think Manchester United fans - would you want to sign Ings, Bale and Clyne?
