The girlfriend of David de Gea has rejected claims that she doesn't like Manchester, insisting she loves the city, reports the Daily Mail.
Edurne Garcia hit the headlines earlier this month when the Manchester Evening News revealed that she suggested that Manchester 'is not very nice', however the 29-year-old, who is set to represent Spain at the Eurovision song contest, has now claimed that she's 'delighted with Manchester.'
De Gea, of course, has been the subject of interest from Spanish giants Real Madrid of late, with it being suggested that he could return to Spain sooner rather than later.
The Spanish ace, who previously starred at Atletico Madrid before moving to Old Trafford in 2011, has been in inspired form between the sticks, with many now rating him as one of the best goalkeepers in world football.
In fact, at United, De Gea has arguably been the club's most consistent player over the course of the past two seasons, so no doubt Red Devils chief Louis van Gaal will be desperate to hold onto his services.
United fans, then, will certainly be pleased with Garcia's comments, but it remains to be seen as to whether De Gea will look to move back to Spain in the near future.
It's certainly a saga that won't go away until the Old Trafford club manage to tie him down to a new long term deal or accept a potential huge offer from Spanish giants Real Madrid.
United must keep De Gea
In truth, it's quite obvious: Manchester United must keep De Gea at the club. At the end of the day, he has been remarkable over the last couple of years, and will only continue to go from strength-to-strength on English soil.
At just 24, De Gea has arguably a decade at the top level ahead of him, so he certainly wouldn't be easy to replace. Van Gaal does, of course, have former Barcelona shot-stopper Victor Valdes at his disposal, but he's certainly not in the same class as De Gea right now.
United will have to work hard to keep their key player at the club, but it will be worth it if he stays for the best part of his career. Van Gaal and Co. must act sooner rather than later.
