Darren Sharper's reputation has just taken yet another blow after it was revealed that he has been charged for rape in another US city.
Sharper is innocent until proven guilty, but his reputation is completely in tatters after the Associated Press reported on Friday that rape charges in Las Vegas have been filed against Darren Sharper.
The charges are now the fourth set of rape charges to have been filed against the former New Orleans Saints star, after he was subjected to similar charges in Los Angeles, New Orleans and Phoenix last year.
"Trouble continues to mount for former NFL safety Darren Sharper, who has now been charged with rape in his fourth city," ProFootballTalk reported on Friday.
"According to the Associated Press, rape charges were filed in Las Vegas today, to go along with similar charges in Los Angeles, New Orleans and outside Phoenix."
According to reports, today's charges against Darren Sharper relate to two sexual assault charges stemming from a 2014 incident. Sharper was not present when he was issued with the charge today, with his attorney appearing before a judge. Another hearing will take place on April 3.
It was reported at the end of last year that Sharper could be on the verge of receiving a life sentence for his alleged crimes, and that fate could still be one that Sharper faces in the not so distant future if he is found guilty of these alleged crimes.
Sharper is currently jailed in LA, where he attended a preliminary hearing on Friday after his decision to plead not guilty to charges of drugging and raping three women in 2013.
Sharper's latest charge for rape adds to his already dramatic fall from grace. The former star safety was a stalwart for the Saints at the back end of his career, helping them to their Super Bowl XLIV triumph. The safety also made five Pro Bowls during a stellar NFL career, after successful stints with Green Bay Packers and the Minnesota Vikings.
