The one-time Ghana international, who now plies his trade with Russian outfit FC Ufa, used the ‘Throwback Thursday’ hashtag to have a bizarre pop at the current Manchester City star.
Frimpong posted an image showing him involved in an altercation with Nasri, alongside the caption: “Looking to knockout Cashmir,” a nickname used by some Arsenal fans who believe the France international left the Gunners in 2011 for money. He then added: “That little worm”.
Frimpong enjoys being controversial
Of course, Frimpong is no stranger to online controversy and is now arguably more famous for his off-field internet-related activities than football.
A day before his Instagram post, Frimpong took another swipe at Nasri following his cynical foul on Barcelona’s Neymar at the Camp Nou on Wednesday night.
“Cashmir you dirty Sod,” Frimpong posted on Twitter - a message which has since been retweeted over 300 times.
Frimpong is wasting his talent
Perhaps this is Frimpong’s way to ensure he stays relevant in the eyes of the Arsenal supporters; his career has taken a spectacular nose-dive over recent years.
The 23-year-old looked a real talent at one point but he is unlikely to ever fulfil his potential due to a combination of injuries, poor form and his suspect attitude.
He left Arsenal permanently last summer and only played a handful of matches with Barnsley before they offloaded him to Ufa, who currently sit 11th in the Russian Premier League table.
