According to the London Evening Standard, Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has ruled out the signing of on-loan Manchester United striker Radamel Falcao in the summer transfer window.
Although the Colombian has endured a frustrating debut season since securing his lucrative loan move to the Red Devils, the Blues were reportedly interested in signing the striker from Monaco in the upcoming transfer window.
However, although the striker shares the same agent as Blues boss Mourinho, the Standard has reported that he will not be heading over to Stamford Bridge any time soon as the Blues are seeking out potential midfield and defensive recruitments this summer.
In addition, Chelsea were interested in Falcao before he moved to Monaco in 2013, and although Mourinho is once again planning to spend big in the summer transfer window, he has made buying young talent on a permanent basis his main priority.
Falcao's struggle for form since joining United on loan last summer, combined with his £260,000-a-week wages have seriously deterred Mourinho from securing the Colombian's signature when his loan spell at United comes to an end.
Blues open to Icardi and Koke transfer
With striker Didier Drogba preparing to hang up his boots at the end of this season, Mourinho is said to be plotting a move for Inter Milan's star striker Mauro Icardi as a possible replacement.
In addition, Mourinho has never hidden his admiration for former Real Madrid protege Raphael Varane and it seems that the Portuguese will be willing to test Real's desire to keep the 21-year-old come the summer transfer window.
With John Terry nearing the end of his career, and Gary Cahill recently suffering a dip in form, it would seem that the Chelsea manager is also seeking to strengthen his defensive unit. Recent reports have also linked the west London club with the signing of PSG's ever-reliable and much-improved defender Marquinhos.
Finally, if certain claims are anything to go by, Mourinho will look to test Diego Simeone's resolve yet again by tabling an improved bid for Atletico Madrid's star midfielder Koke.
