I appreciate that this will not be the case for most readers of this article, but anybody who knows me well enough will also know that I’m a keen supporter of the man crush idea. I love my girlfriend, but I also love David Beckham and Rafael Nadal…

As a result, when I saw that these two gods among men had been pictured together at a party, I have rushed to my laptop and here we are now. Some of you may not class a picture of two men as a news story, but in case anybody is like me – I know there’s lots of you – this is our haven.

Tommy Hilfiger is the man to whom we must send our gratitude for making this happen. The fashion designer’s birthday party in Miami bought the delightful duo together. Is this the start of a great friendship? – Let’s hope so.

The fusion of style, muscle and perfect hair was posted to Facebook by Becks himself and the snap has already received nearly 750,000 thousand likes – see I told you there are more like me. “Great to see Rafa Nadal in Miami,” is what the former England footballer wrote with the picture… yes, Golden Balls, it is great indeed.

It seems that both men are in Miami at the right time, as they both pursue sporting interests.

Nadal is still very much active in the sporting world and is preparing for the Miami Masters, which started on Wednesday. Remarkably the 14-time Grand Slam champion has never won the tournament.

The 28-year-old will be hoping Becks sprinkled some magic dust on him as he hopes to topple arch rival Novak Djokovic. The Serb is in astonishing form at the moment and has won three of the last four titles in Miami.

Meanwhile Beckham certainly has some important business to tend to, even if he is not in the thick of sporting competition anymore.

The 39-year-old former Real Madrid and Manchester United star still has plans to launch an MLS franchise in the city after he raised football’s profile in the USA so dramatically following a stint at Steven Gerrard’s new club LA Galaxy, many years ago now.

Although the plans have been delayed by various frustrating hurdles, hopefully those plans will be pushed through soon and Beckham will have his very own football team.
Maybe he and Nadal should form some sort of management team, oh you can just imagine…
