Bayern Munich goalkeeper Pepe Reina believes David de Gea should be happy plying his trade at Manchester United despite interest from Spanish giants Real Madrid, reports the Express.
Reina, who previously starred for the Red Devils' Premier League rivals Liverpool, has claimed that De Gea is one of the best goalkeepers in Europe.
There's no doubt about it, De Gea's form has been outstanding over the course of the past 18-months, so it's not entirely surprising that Real are interested in his services.
De Gea, of course, was named the club's Player of the Year for last term and is certainly on course to secure the award once again in this campaign after impressing under the Louis van Gaal regime.
His fellow goalkeeper Reina certainly thinks he's up there with the very best as he told reporters: "He is one of the top 'keepers in Europe and this year he has been superb.
"Maybe Real Madrid are looking for a 'keeper and De Gea is one of the names suggested, but I think he should be happy enough playing for Man United."
Of course, as long as United continue to fail to tie De Gea down to a long term deal, then uncertainty will continue to surround the shot-stopper, with his current contract with the club set to run out at the end of next season.
He must stay
It's obvious: Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal must keep De Gea at the Theatre of Dreams. At the end of the day, for some time now, the Spanish international has been the club's most consistent player, so the club would be foolish to let him go in the next transfer window.
Of course United chiefs will no doubt be worried that the world class ace could leave on a free the following summer, so they must offer him a huge deal in order to convince him to stay. It's also crucial that the club manage to secure Champions League football for next season as De Gea deserves to be playing in Europe's elite competition.
It certainly looks set to be a busy summer for De Gea and Co. at Old Trafford, and it looks set to be a big one.
