Amid ongoing transfer interest in Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane, the France international has once again addressed reports that he held talks with Manchester United prior to moving to Spain.

While in the past Varane has confirmed that Manchester United were seriously interested in signing him, speaking to Onze Mondial this week he revealed that he had personal talks with Sir Alex Ferguson prior to agreeing to joining Real Madrid.

Reports in France this week also claim that Real Madrid are preparing a new contract offer for Pepe, which could force Varane to consider his future.

Although he’s often described as the ‘future’ of the Real Madrid defence, it’s not clear how long he’ll be happy waiting for his regular chance.

What do you think Manchester United fans! Should van Gaal make an offer?
