Thierry Henry was at his brilliant best yesterday, with the highlight being an outrageous pass to Ryan Babel.
Usually one for tormenting Liverpool, Henry was playing for a Steven Gerrard XI in a charity game benefitting the Anfield club’s foundation.
He collected an intercepted Mario Balotelli pass – the Italian had opened the scoring for the Jamie Carragher XI – before feigning to shoot with his right foot, but instead found Babel in space with his left.
Babel however fired his shot wide of Pepe Reina’s right hand post, with Henry clearly disappointed with the Dutchman’s miss.
Arsenal legend Henry only retired from the game in December of last year, having finished his career in the MLS with New York Red Bulls.
His side managed to rescue a draw thanks to two penalties from Gerrard, one in each half, after Didier Drogba had added to Balotelli’s finish for Team Carragher.
