Jameis Winston has gained a lot of criticism over the last couple of years. Some of the criticism he has been subjected to is fair, other aspects of the media coverage of Winston has been out of line though.
Winston has been painted as the bad guy because of a flurry of stories and speculation regarding his private life. And so when he made the decision last month to not attend the NFL Draft in May, the Winston haters came out in full force and declared the decision a bizarre one.
After all, most quarterbacks, at least the ones that are expected to go high in the draft like Winston, usually turn up at the draft and get their fair share of publicity.
But Winston's desire is to remain low. Furthermore, in an interview on Tuesday at his pro day, Winston revealed a desire to be with family and his grandma's no-fly situation left him wanting to stay at home and watch the draft.
"After his [Winston's] pro day workout Tuesday that his decision to not attend the NFL Draft in Chicago was a simple call based on the health of a family member," ProFootballTalk reported.
"During an interview on the NFL Network, Winston said his grandmother has type-2 diabetes and is unable to travel, so the desire to be around his family triggered his decision to stay near home."
Many have speculated why Winston has decided stay at home. And while some may say this revelation dispels the notion that he was told to stay at home by his representatives, some will say that this reason is a happy coincidence.
Regardless of the draft night situation, what do you think NFL fans? Will Jameis Winston be a success in the NFL? Leave your thoughts in the comments section below.
