Ryan Mason's tattoo sends Twitter into a frenzy

It may have been Andros Townsend that grabbed the headlines yesterday with his goal, but it is his Tottenham team mate Ryan Mason who has caused a flurry on social media.

Celebrating Townsend’s goal, Mason ran over to join in with the rest of the team, when the camera caught a glimpse of the ink on his arm, which one Twitter user likened to a photo of his younger self.


“why does ryan mason have a tattoo of my when i was 12??????” tweeted @Danorako, which currently has over 22,000 retweets.

It is not yet clear who the tattoo is supposed to be of. Other Twitter users likened it to many famous faces, including Jake from sitcom Two And A Half Men, as well as Pop Idol winner Michelle McManus.

Mason was making his England debut yesterday, just a few days after club mate Harry Kane made his. Kyle Walker joined them on the pitch to make a quintet of Spurs players in Turin as England secured a 1-1 draw after going behind to Southampton striker Graziano Pelle’s header in the first half.

The midfielder signed a new five-year contract with Spurs in January after enjoying a wonderful start to the season.
