Spanish ace Pablo Sarabia has revealed that Premier League giants Arsenal were previously interested in signing him.
As reported by Goal.com, the Getafe ace, who has enjoyed a fine season in La Liga, has hinted that he could move to the Premier League in the future, but isn't sure if Manchester United wanted to secure his signature.
At just 21, Sarabia looks set for a bright future in the game after coming through the ranks at Real Madrid and having starred for the Spanish under-21 side.
Premier League switch
Perhaps, then, a future move to Arsenal is possible, as he told reporters: "Yes, it's true that Arsenal were interested in me. Manchester United? People said it ... I didn't ask my agent.
"I like the Premier League, it's an important league. I don't close the door to anything. Maybe it's a good competition for me and in the future I can play there."
As it stands, a potential move to north London appears to be a long way off, but Arsenal could yet step up their interest in him in the near future as they go in search of long term success.
Sarabia has also commented on the Spanish national side's recent troubles, claiming that manager Vincente Del Bosque will get it right.
He continued by saying: "It isn't an easy stage for the national team. Spain wasn't accustomed to win and they have enjoyed some years of splendor. All the teams around the world wanted to beat us because we were the best.
"We were the envy globally and we must value it. That's more important to highlight that than criticising the team. You cannot always win. We had a spectacular squad, but we have to renew it. Youth players are doing a great job, but is going to be difficult. I'm sure Del Bosque will make the right decision."
One for the future
There's no doubt about it, if Sarabia becomes available then Arsenal should look to bring him to the Emirates. At 21, he's got a huge future in front of him and will surely play a role for the national side sooner rather than later.
He certainly fits the Arsenal mould too: a similar size to Mesut Ozil, Sarabia is certainly a creator of goals, and would only add to Wenger's options in the midfield department.
Fans may well think, however, that the club already have more than enough options in that department, but he would be one for the future.
