Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has insisted that his side can still win the Premier League title this term despite sitting in fourth place with just eight games remaining.
In fact, the Red Devils currently sit eight points behind leaders Chelsea, who also have a game in hand over United, however Van Gaal believes domestic glory is still possible for his team as they approach the latter stages of the campaign.
United, who have beaten top four rivals Tottenham and Liverpool in their last two consecutive matches, still have to play the teams above them in the division, with the duo of Manchester City and Arsenal both visiting Old Trafford.
It appears, then, that Van Gaal thinks anything is possible between now and the end of the campaign, but United will have to win near enough all of their games to stand any chance of catching Jose Mourinho's Chelsea side.
That, of course, will have to start tomorrow afternoon as United play host to Aston Villa as they go in search of claiming their fifth straight league victory.
He is right...to an extent
Of course, mathematically it is still possible for United to catch the Blues at the top of the division, but it will certainly be difficult.
After Villa, United play Manchester City, Chelsea and Everton in succession so they will have to be at the very top of their game to continue climbing the league.
No doubt, though, if United continue to play like they didi against the duo of Spurs and Liverpool, then a second place finish is a realistic target.
