Carl Jenkinson has been in terrific form this season. The 23-year-old joined West Ham on loan until the end of the season to get much-needed game time to prove his worth to Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger.
While at the Emirates Stadium, Mathieu Debuchy is believed to be the number one right-back. However in his absence Hector Bellerin has shown that he is definitely one for the future.
So the big question is: who to keep?
Jenkinson is an Gunners' fan and that really is a big thing for all Arsenal supporters. He is a fan favourite and they want him to succeed.
He is also very effective going forward and a very good crosser of the ball. However he is sometimes caught out while defending and he can still improve technically - and he has been showing very positive signs since the start of the season at West Ham, where he has cemented the right-back spot for himself.
Bellerin is a fine technician of the ball and is really quick. His speed makes a lot of difference while going forward and his ability to recover.
At 21 years of age Bellerin has still has a lot to learn but he has shown enough for Arsenal fans to rest assured while he is playing. The player has been growing in strength from game to game and has produced some solid performances recently.
However Debuchy remains the number one choice at right-back when fit. The French international is the like for like replacement for Bacary Sagna. He is solid at defending, effective going forward and a very good reader of the game. It is not a coincidence that he was chosen ahead of Sagna in the French World Cup squad.
As exciting as it can get for Arsenal fans to debate on this matter, it is a difficult decision to make for Wenger. Whilst we do not necessarily know as much as the Arsenal manager, we can certainly share our opinion.
Many Arsenal fans believe that all three are very good and we don’t want to lose any of them. But I don’t think Arsene will want to keep all three next season.
So the best scenario would be either one of Carl or Hector to go on a season-long loan next season while we let Debuchy honour his contract which ends at the end of next season - and then get the two youngsters battling for the first spot.
But only Arsene knows and in Arsene we trust.
