Chelsea are set to beat Manchester United to the signing of highly-rated Fluminense forward Kenedy after allegedly agreeing a £6 million deal for his signature.

Sport Witness cites a report from Brazilian publication Globo Esporte which states that the Blues are putting the final touches to a transfer that will see the 19-year-old arrive at Stamford Bridge at the end of the season.

Fluminense have sold Kenedy to an investment fund with the help of well known South American football agent Giuliano Bertolucci, who already represents a number of existing Chelsea players like Oscar, Willian and Ramires.

Bertolucci has a long history of brokering deals for the west London club and so his presence has made Jose Mourinho's plans to secure the 'new Neymar' significantly easier.

Manchester United have also been linked with the talented teenager as recently as last month following a report in the Daily Mirror that intimated Louis van Gaal was interested in luring the player to Old Trafford.

However, it looks as though the Red Devils will miss out on the Fluminense starlet after latest developments in Kenedy's homeland suggest he'll link up with Mourinho's squad in time for pre-season.

With a growing contingent of Brazilian players plying their trade at Chelsea it's the ideal place for the burgeoning star to go, with the best possible chance of settling in a new country and culture with a host of fellow nationals around him.

Diego Costa and Filipe Luis are two more senior stars capable of communicating clearly with Kenedy when he comes to England, and they'll all be doing their very best to help integrate the youngster into the senior fold.

Manchester United, meanwhile, will have to turn their attention to alternative attacking midfield targets as Van Gaal presses on with plans to strengthen his team at the Theatre of Dreams in time for the start of 2015/16.

Chelsea fans: Do you think £6 million is a fair price to pay for Kenedy? Does he have what it takes to make an immediate impact at Stamford Bridge? Share your thoughts below...
