Football News

Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings will entertain the Delhi Daredevils at the Chidambaram Stadium in the second match of IPL 2015.

CSK will look to emulate the start of their title rivals Kolkata, while Delhi will look to bounce back to the form they displayed in the inaugural IPL, and have a better campaign this time round compared to IPL 2014, where they finished in last place.

IPL Auction

The IPL auction saw no major changes for the Super Kings, which see stars like Brendon McCullum and Suresh Raina, who is the top run scorer in IPL history, continue playing for the Chennai based franchise. McCullum in particular showed some explosive form in the World Cup for New Zealand, and his wicket will sure to be at the top of the Daredevils hit list.

The Delhi Daredevils picture is considerably different, however, as finishing at the foot of the table for the last two consecutive seasons has seen big changes made to the side.

The change up has seen Delhi bring in the IPL record signing of Indian legend Yuvraj Singh, Sri Lankan captain Angelo Matthews, iconic Indian seamer Zaheer Khan, amongst 11 other players. The new additions will certainly help Delhi skipper JP Duminy take the team towards the right direction.

Big match up

There are match ups all over the field and the game promises to be a spectacle for the first time in years and not the Chennai walk over that it has been for the past few seasons.

There is no way of showing the league they mean business this year for the Daredevils than beating the two time IPL winners in their own stadium.

However, with the Kolkata Knight Riders asserting their dominance on the league from the outset, you can believe that the Super Kings will not lie down and get complacent. With the IPL title eluding them for the past three years, they will see this year as the perfect opportunity to get back on top.

The match will take place today (April 9) at 3:30pm GMT or 8:00 IST.
