It is safe to say that many experts, fans and players have lost a little faith in Peyton Manning.
The former Indianapolis Colts star and five-time NFL MVP was outstanding in the 2013 NFL regular season before a terrible Super Bowl performance, and then last year he was impressive again in the regular season before a terrible playoff effort against the Colts.
Many blamed Manning's injury for his poor late season form, and that may be true, but also many believe that Manning will never regain his former glory.
Miller makes bold claim
While these people may have a point, (Manning is after all 39 years of age), Denver Broncos defensive star Von Miller is having none of it. He believes that Manning can reclaim his throne as the best in the NFL and explained that he is confident the Broncos can challenge for the Super Bowl again this year.
“We can win a Super Bowl with Peyton. I think that’s the only thing that matters," Miller explained, according to ProFootballTalk.
"To win a Super Bowl we need Peyton Manning and I think that he’s going to be able to play at a high level. It’s Peyton Manning. Whatever it is he needs to do, he’s going to do it. That’s one position that I’m just not worried about.”
Has Manning still got it?
Manning was dominant again last season. He was second in the NFL when it comes to touchdowns thrown, and he was also fourth in passer rating and fourth in passing yards.
But Manning's goal will be to play confidently throughout the whole of the regular season and postseason. Miller may be confident, but we will see whether his wish plays out in time.
