Louis van Gaal is so desperate to sign Edinson Cavani and Thiago Silva this summer that he is prepared to offer Paris Saint-Germain up to four Manchester United players as part of a prospective £57 million deal.
According to the Sunday People, the Red Devils are willing to let Robin van Persie, Javier Hernandez, Rafael and Nani all leave Old Trafford at the end of the season, and will present the Ligue 1 champions with the chance to take as many of them to Parc des Princes as they want.
Cavani has been on Manchester United's radar for over a year, and now they finally want to bring him to England as a replacement for Colombian striker Radamel Falcao when his ill-fated season-long loan spell at the Theatre of Dreams expires.
Van Persie has also struggled for fitness and form this term, and is being heavily linked with a summer exit. Van Gaal is confident that the Uruguay international can fill the void of both high-profile departures.
The veteran Dutch coach is equally keen to acquire Silva's signature after identifying the Brazil international as a viable alternative to Borussia Dortmund captain Mats Hummels.
However, he knows that the Red Devils will be required to pay more than the £35 million that PSG paid AC Milan for the South American stopper in 2012, and that's why he's hoping to bring down the overall cost by negotiating a complicated player-exchange.
Qualifying for next season's Champions League will be imperative if Manchester United are going to have any chance of bringing both Cavani and Silva to England, and Van Gaal's side can move a step closer to reaching that goal with victory over Manchester City in Sunday's local derby.
