Football News

A new and improved Delhi Daredevils will take on the Rajasthan Royals in match 6 of the IPL at the Ferozeshah Kotla Stadium in Delhi.

The Daredevils are currently on a 10-match losing streak through IPL 2014 and IPL 2015; they lost to the Chennai Super Kings in their opener by 1-run.

Albie Morkel’s efforts were in vein against Chennai, as the South African starred with the bat for the Daredevils scoring 73 not out off 55 balls.

Delhi Firepower

JP Duminy’s side have made some significant additions in the form of IPL record signing Yuvraj Singh and Sri Lankan skipper Angelo Matthews too name a few.

The Royals will be packed full of confidence after beating the IPL 2014 runners up in their season opener.

This was without the services of their skipper Shane Watson, who was injured in the warm up. Stand-in skipper Steven Smith led the side to the 26-run victory over the Kings XI Punjab.

With the new additions to the Daredevils roster, there will be match ups all over the field. The Delhi bowling contingent is packed full international talent and is enough to trouble even the best batting line-ups. With the batting card arguably going down number 10, runs should not be hard to come by.

Rajasthan have shown in their first match up that they are certainly a team in with a shot in this year’s tournament.

A Royal Return

It is hard to pick a specific weakness within the Royals current squad, and the return of their skipper Shane Watson will add the firepower that they already have in all departments.

With Australian all rounder James Faulkner in red-hot form with both bat and ball, the Royals have to go into the match as firm favourites.

Previous meetings

Previous meetings between the two teams fall in the favour of Rajasthan – but only just. The Royals have come away with the point on eight occasions, whereas Delhi have been the victors six times.

The match will start at 11:30am GMT or 4pm IST and will be aired on Sky Sports HD 2.
