Atletico Madrid clash looms large

Every member of the Real Madrid squad will be fully focused on tonight’s huge tie at the Vicente Calderon - a ground Los Blancos have failed to win at in their previous four visits.

In fact, Carlo Ancelotti’s side have not beaten La Liga champions Atletico in their previous six meetings, with their last victory coming in the Champions League final back in May.

Real Madrid are under big pressure to end their poor recent run against their less glamorous rivals and head into the match full of confidence after three straight victories, including a 9-1 demolition of Granada.

Atletico, though, haven’t lost since February - a run of eight matches stretching back to their 1-0 away defeat to Bayer Leverkusen in the previous round of the Champions League.

Can Atleti stop Ronaldo?

Diego Simeone’s side’s biggest challenge will be to stop Ronaldo scoring.

The Portuguese superstar has scored 49 goals in all competitions this season - including eight in the Champions League - and will fancy his chances of hitting the 50-goal milestone at the Calderon this evening.
