Miami Dolphins have made a huge amount of noise in the last couple of months.

In a bid to challenge the New England Patriots for the AFC East title and the Super Bowl, the Dolphins made the daring decision to secure the signature of star defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh.

The former Detroit Lions star has become the highest-paid defensive player in the NFL as a result of his deal with Miami, and new reports reveal the Dolphins are not stopping there in their bid to get their house in order.

Starting quarterback Ryan Tannehill has impressed at times during his first three seasons in the NFL with Miami, but at times he has also underwhelmed. Despite this, the Dolphins pressed on last season with their plans to cement Tannehill as their franchise QB for the future, and it seemed to pay off.

Dolphins want deal done

These impressive stats have now compelled the Dolphins to make the conscious effort to sign Tannehill to a new deal with the Dolphins before week one, according to Ian Rapoport, with the deal set to make him the first quarterback out of the high-profile 2012 NFL Draft quarterback class to get an extended contract.

"Of all the quarterbacks in the high-profile 2012 draft class, the first to get a long-term extension beyond his rookie contract may be Ryan Tannehill," ProFootballTalk reported.

"The Dolphins are hoping to get a contract extension with Tannehill done this offseason, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports."

Tannehill deserves a new deal

Tannehill started the 2014 season with three shocking performances before eventually providing his best statistical season to date, with 4,045 passing yards, 27 touchdowns and a passer rating of 92.8.

Tannehill is certainly deserving of a new deal with the Dolphins. He proved last year that he can manage Miami, and with the addition of quality players on both sides of the ball, the signal caller could prove to be the perfect low cost quarterback to build a Super Bowl winning team around.

But what do you think Dolphins fans? Do you want Miami to sign Tannehill to a new contract now before he potentially increases his value with another solid season in 2015? Leave your thoughts in the comments section below.
